A French-made (Matra) very short-range anti-aircraft missile. The heat-seeking (infrared homing) missile had a range of 4.2 km.

The Mistral was acquired to serve as an air defence system on Hämeenmaa and Rauma class Navy vessels.

The naval launch unit could be loaded with six missiles at a time.

The Mistral was in service in Finland from 1991 to 2010.
